Protection of valuable assets either national infrastructure (reservoirs, electricity substations, telecommunications hubs, data centres etc. or mobile assets such as trains and buses can be difficult to monitor using optical and infra red sensor technology. A new form of perimeter fence security system has been developed based on microwave radar.

Key advantages are:

  • Automatically rejects background clutter
  • Communication between each remote device and base-station (BS) can be modulated
allowing many remote sensors to communicate in harmony to the base-station
  • Narrow bandwidth makes the system less susceptible to jamming and also allows minimal noise entry - increasing workable range

The demonstrated system is low cost and uses technology which is easy to manufacture.
