4.2. Maintaining Contact


Students should be provided with contact details, e-mail and phone, for all staff involved in work placement in case they need to get in touch with someone in an emergency.  These should be the placement organiser, placement tutor, visiting tutor, placement administrator/secretary and/or School office.

Student contact is vital in the first few weeks of placement.  This can be achieved by for example:

  • Telephone call to each student
  • Submission of weekly logs (see assessment) on line which can be evaluated by the work placement organiser

Students should be required to notify the placement administrator/secretary of any change of address or other contact details [i.e. telephone number] during their placement (change of address form).
