+ Project Description

The use of wireless technology in healthcare is rapidly evolving and attracting increased interest from commercial sectors. It is the enabling technology required to address many of the global societal challenges in innovative healthcare solutions. There is a significant increase in the demand for real time monitoring of wireless sensor data, as it has the potential to significantly reduce healthcare costs and improve efficacy. Wearable close-fitting medical systems must work robustly and reliably on every patient. This challenging research will explore integrating material science with electromagnetics to realise artificial surfaces using a combination of numerical and applied approaches to validate research concepts and advance this field. Particular focus will be given to rigorous experimental measurement methodologies used to understand, validate and advance the development of this technology to impact real world applications. The research will involve numerical electromagnetic analysis, radio frequency design, wireless channels, wearable antennas and propagation, human test-bed opyimisation, materials and ink-jet printing techniques.
