EGG is well-known for its relaxed, informal atmosphere, with much of the important discussion (scientific or otherwise) taking place in the bar. In addition, we also have a full social programme.
Lunch / tea / coffee
Lunch and tea / coffee breaks will be in the Canada Room each day.
Dinner on the first night of the conference will be held in Deanes at Queens. The restaurant is situated on the leafy College Gardens, just across the road from the Lanyon building. Head chef Chris Fearon took part in BBC Two’s Great British Menu, and in 2011 he cooked the starter course at the winner’s banquet in London.
The inaugural "EGG-Heads" Pub Quiz will take place following dinner on the Tuesday night in the upstairs function room of the Parlour Bar, which is less than a minute's walk from Deanes at Queens. Due to the unfair advantage of his astonishingly in-depth knowledge of all things trivial, Jim Provan will be ineligible to win as he will instead be quizmaster! All delegates are urged to join in the fun, and an array of prizes will be on offer to the winning team, the second from last team and the team with the funniest name.
The Conference Dinner will be held on Wednesday evening in the Great Hall, which is on the ground floor of the Lanyon Building, preceded by a wine reception.
After the meal, delegates are encourage to head to the upstairs of the Parlour Bar again for music and dancing with the brilliant McStocker Ceili Band. Even if you don’t fancy a dance, be sure to join us for the ‘craic’ (fun).
