In order to advise applicants of their UCAS decision as soon as possible the University publishes its UCAS decisions on our website at:
You should also refer to the Guidance Notes below.
For a number of reasons (including missing results and student number controls), decisions on borderline applications may take some time, but are communicated to applicants as quickly as possible, and we appreciate your patience at this anxious time. We are trying to accommodate as many applicants holding CF and CI offers as possible at this stage, but if you are concerned that you may lose out on a place elsewhere, you may email email@example.com and request that an unsuccessful decision is registered with UCAS. You should be aware that, if you request an unsuccessful decision is registered on your application, you cannot be reconsidered even if the University would have subsequently been in a position to offer you a place. Please quote your UCAS Personal ID and the course you no longer wish to be considered for.
The Guidance Notes are intended to provide help in understanding the information which appears in the UCAS Decisions for Northern Ireland Universities web pages. The information appearing is illustrated by the following example:
|Institution Code||UCAS Personal ID
|QUB||1234567890||M2R1||LAW WITH FRENCH||CF||Decision Pending|
Column 1: Institution Code
This tells you which institution your offer was held with (QUB - Queen's University Belfast; STRAN - Stranmillis University College or UU - University of Ulster).
Column 2: UCAS Personal ID
This is your UCAS Personal ID. This is a ten digit number used on all your correspondence from UCAS. Please check your number carefully to ensure that you access the correct information.
Columns 3 & 4: Course & Course Name
This gives the UCAS code and name of the course(s) to which you have applied. If you have held offers for more than one course at Queen's University, Stranmillis University College or the University of Ulster then both courses will be listed.
Column 5: Offer
This indicates the June/July Position of your application and may be Unconditional Firm (UF), Unconditional Insurance (UI), Conditional Firm (CF) or Conditional Insurance (CI).
Column 6: Decision
This shows the current status of your application. For Queen's University decisions it is important to follow the link for a fuller explanation of your decision. For Queen's there are nine possible decision categories - summarised below:
This means that a decision has not yet been made on your application. If a decision on your application is pending it may take several days for a final decision to be taken. more >>
Accepted & Placed:
This means that you have been accepted for this choice of course. more >>
This means that your application has been accepted by another institution to which you applied and you are committed to that institution.
This means that it has not been possible to accept your application for this choice.
Accept Course Change/No Reply:
This means that you have been accepted to a different course than that to which you applied and are yet to reply to this new offer. The course code and abbreviation listed are for the new course to which you have been accepted.
If this was your CF choice UCAS will send you an AS12C form for the changed course along with the decision of your Insurance choice, if appropriate, and you will be given the option of accepting or declining this offer.
If this was your CI choice and your CF choice was at Queen's, or elsewhere, your decision for the CF choice may still be pending. If your CF choice accepts you in due course you will be committed to that choice and your insurance choice will lapse.
This means that you have been accepted to your Insurance Offer at Queen's. If you are holding a CF at Queen's, or elsewhere, your decision for this course may still be pending. If your CF choice accepts you in due course you will be committed to that choice and your insurance choice will lapse.

This means that you have withdrawn your application from the UCAS Scheme.
Please note that the categories of decisions adopted by Queen's University vary slightly from those used by Stranmillis University College and the University of Ulster. Applicants who are holding offers with more than one institution are advised to refer to that institution's Guidance Notes.
