Welcome to the Conference

Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the Organising Committee, we are delighted to invite you to join us in Belfast for the UK-Ireland Planning Research Conference 2017. This will be a key international arena for academics and practitioners to share the latest research on spatial, regional, neighbourhood and community planning, with opportunities for plenary talks, parallel track presentations, roundtables, field visits and other special sessions. The theme of the 2017 conference is ‘Transcending Boundaries: Global Flows and Spatial Justice’, which will provide a particular opportunity to explore the ways in which planning, development and spatial analysis engages with the multi-level and complex flows of people, finance, environmental assets and other resources across space. We look forward to welcoming you to Northern Ireland, in the 50th year of the discipline of Planning at Queen's University Belfast, and are certain you will take home memories of an enjoyable and informative event, excellent hospitality and new friends.

Kind regards,
Dr. Stephen McKay, Head of Planning

Conference Venue

The conference will take place in Riddel Hall. Located in Stranmillis, Riddel Hall is a grade 2 red brick listed building, set in its own attractive landscaped grounds.  It has been sympathetically renovated to retain many of the original features including fireplaces, wood panelling, bannisters and iron work.
