Leading your PhD

The PhD experience is widely recognised as one of the most challenging projects imaginable. Leading your PhD is a 3-day leadership development programme which will provide you with the skills and support necessary to complete your PhD successfully. Crucially these skills are highly valued by academic and non-academic employers alike so this programme is for life, not just for now! The programme is applicable to anyone doing a PhD, MPhil or Professional Doctorate in any discipline and completion is a key requirement towards achievement of the new Certificate Level 5 in Leadership and Management. Learn from proven leaders…The course combines short leadership presentations with team-based activities which provide an opportunity for leadership, feedback and reflection. The programme is led by facilitators who have significant experience in training and developing PhD students across a wide range of Universities as well as experience of leading and training within the private, public and voluntary sectors. Of course you can attend the 3 day course and not apply for the award! Similar leadership courses which are open to the public cost approximately £1,500 per person. All we ask is that you pay a £50 refundable deposit.
