Careers, Employability and Skills
Careers, Employability and Skills aims to help all students make decisions on how to move forward with their careers, and offers a range of services specifically for Postgraduate Research Students, including:
Career Management & Employability Skills courses, as outlined in the Postgraduate Researcher Development Programme. Employability Skills courses provide you with an opportunity to explore some of the generic skills which employers look for in graduate recruits, and to assess how you might develop further competence in these areas, while Career Management Skills courses focus on helping you with different aspects of the transition into employment.
Individual consultations - an opportunity to discuss career-related issues, such as exploring your options, job search strategies, CVs/applications and interviews, in greater depth. These sessions can be used to discuss any aspect of your career planning, and are available no matter what stage you may be at in the process.
Meet employers - A range of Careers Fairs, on-campus presentations, and employer-led skills sessions take place throughout the year (see www.qub.ac.uk/careers for further details).
The Careers, Employability and Skills website at www.qub.ac.uk/careers includes an up-to-date vacancy database, events diary, details of part-time and voluntary work opportunities and further career planning links and resources.
