These Chairs are intended to constitute the next generation of leadership at Queen's. Supported by substantial investment in accompanying posts at Lecturer and Senior Lecturer levels, the Professors named across the three Faculties as part of this exercise will take on the responsibility and the ambition of lifting a research-intensive University into the upper echelons of global excellence; of taking advantage of existing interdisciplinary links in order to build critical mass across a huge variety of research and teaching areas; of pushing an international institution to the very forefront of global discourse, both economic and intellectual; and of contributing to the thought leadership of one of the most culturally vibrant regions of the world.
