“We are witnesses to the genomic revolution that is transforming our understanding of human disease in general, and cancer in particular. Harnessing the power of the latest technologies we are now able to select the right targeted treatments and the concept of precision medicine is now a reality for many oncology patients. Our aim is to advance the clinical applications of cancer genomics to every patient and significantly improve their outcomes and quality of life.”

Precision Medicine Centre of Excellence
The Precision Medicine Centre of Excellence (PMC) at Queen’s University Belfast is a new clinical laboratory bringing together high-throughput genomics, digital pathology and big data analytics in a fully integrated fashion. The PMC aims to accelerate the translation of potentially relevant diagnostic, prognostic and therapeutic findings into clinically actionable information by applying state-of-the-art technology in a clinical laboratory environment. Our partnerships and collaborations with industry, academia and healthcare organisations maximises the potential to capitalise in the value of integrated clinical and biomarker information to improve patient’s outcome.
“Queen’s has a strong culture of entrepreneurship; our spin-out companies support 1,850 high-value jobs and generate an annual turnover of £215 million. Our new PMC has the capacity to help SMEs and large biotech companies with a global reach, attending to a segment of the biomarker validation/adoption pipeline that will speed-up the translation of research discoveries into clinical applications.”
