Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of International Women’s Day
‘From Here to Equality’
International Women's Day on 8 March is a global day celebrating the struggles and achievements of women from all over the world. It grew from two sources – the struggle of working class women to form trade unions and the fight for women’s right to vote. The theme for 2011 - “From Here to Equality” - recognises that while significant progress has been made, women have not yet achieved full social, economic and political equality.
