Get involved in Green Impact
Schools and Directorates have until Monday 19 November to sign up to take part in this year’s Green Impact environmental accreditation scheme. Last year, 25 teams from Queen’s successfully achieved accreditation. Taking part in the Scheme led to a number of benefits for the participating Schools and Directorates, including reductions in electricity consumption, producing savings of up to 18 per cent in some areas.
This year Green Impact teams will be matched up with a Student Green Impact officer. This will be an excellent opportunity for teams to avail of an extra resource to support the implementation of Green Impact as well as providing students with the opportunity to gain employability skills in a professional environment. It’s not just rubbish
Finding the beauty in discarded rubbish was the focus of an art installation on display in the Naughton Gallery during this year’s Ulster Bank Belfast Festival at Queen’s.
Empty plastic bottles collected from across Queen’s campus were used to create the exciting piece of art by Magpie Art Collective, a socially conscious business who make one-of-a-kind creations using reclaimed material.
