The President of Ireland, Michael D Higgins, has made his first visit to Queen’s.

The President and his wife Sabina Higgins were welcomed to the University by Vice-Chancellor Professor Sir Peter Gregson, Lady Gregson and James O’Kane, Registrar and Chief Operating Officer.

During their visit the President and his wife examined a selection of materials from Seamus Heaney’s Beowulf Collection at the McClay Library. The collection, which is Seamus Heaney’s translation of the original Beowulf Poem, was donated to the University in 2005.
