Santander is donating at least £345k over the next three years to Queen’s - providing a vital lifeline to many students.

The money will be used to support scholarships, employment projects and other schemes that focus on making Queen’s a better place to study.

The bank has shown a continuing commitment to important Queen’s projects such as The Queen’s Annual Fund which provides cash for activities that enhance the student experience.

Recently the University’s Development and Alumni Relations Office, which co-ordinates fundraising activity, had a visit from Matt Hutnell, Performance Director, Santander Universities and Michael Wilson, Acting Regional Manager, Santander Universities, who called in to meet the team of student fundraisers who tirelessly ‘work the telephones’ to raise cash for the fund.

As Matt explained: “Students are our country's future innovators and decision makers. That's why at Santander we are committed to funding outstanding students and projects. We have a strong relationship with the University and believe that it is important that we foster talent.

“We want to work with Queen’s to create opportunities for students, for the community, and for society as a whole, and through this partnership we hope to meet that aim.”

Conor O’Kane, Corporate Fundraising Manager at Queen’s, is delighted that Santander is supporting the University.

He said: “With cutbacks in the education budget just starting to bite Santander’s support is even more important. It makes a tangible difference to the work we do in improving the student experience and means that we can offer first-rate facilities and new opportunities.”

But it’s not just students that Santander is interested in helping. Queen’s staff can benefit from many Santander offers. The 'Save when you spend and Save when you don’t' 123 Current Account offers cash back on household bills and their various savings accounts are paying exceptional interest rates.
