Final graduation ceremony for Vice-Chancellor

Professor Sir Peter Gregson has taken part in his final graduation ceremony as Vice-Chancellor.
In his nine years at Queen’s, the Vice-Chancellor has attended over 140 graduation ceremonies and conferred degrees on some 50,000 students.
During his final graduation ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor conferred degrees on graduands from Queen’s University Management School and presented Queen’s Teaching Awards to members of staff from the School.
Lisa Burns and Jill McGrath from the Placement Office in Queen’s University Management School were presented with an Excellence in Teaching Award for ‘the development of a mature, thorough Placement Learning Module incorporating a wide range of good practice’. Lisa and Jill are extremely supportive of their students and facilitate their development with regards to important employability skills through a student-centred approach. They have been praised for their efforts to actively seek out and respond to student feedback in order to improve the module and have received excellent feedback from employers.
Speaking about their award, Lisa said: “This provides acknowledgement to the additional efforts we have made to support students over the last few years during the difficult economic climate. As a result of this we have developed a wide portfolio of extremely supportive employers, our students are well equipped for life in a global society and they have achieved a high success rate into graduate employment.”
