Queen’s Environmental Champion of the Year has proved she is a worthy winner of the title by donating her award to a local primary school.
Tricia Lock from the School the History and Anthropology donated the tree she received at the University’s annual Green Awards ceremony to St Joseph’s Primary School in Carryduff for use in their eco garden.
Tricia recently attended the tree planting ceremony and had the opportunity to meet with children from the School’s ECO Committee, teachers and the School Principal. She was given a tour of the eco garden, the wooded walkway and chatted to pupils about their herb garden.
Tricia said: “I was really pleased to be given the tree as my award as Environmental Champion of the Year and delighted that it has now gone to a lovely home where it will be well cared for for years to come.”
