Corncrake (Crex crex)

Corncrake recovery on Rathlin Island PhD   

A 3 year PhD investigating the role of invasive species and predator control in repatriating the corncrake (Crex crex) on Rathlin Island Special Protection Area (SPA). This project was a Natural Heritage Research Partnership (NHRP) project.

Marsh fritillary butterfly (Euphydryas aurinia)

Conservation of the Marsh fritillary butterfly PhD     

A 3 year PhD focusing on the conservation ecology of the Annex II marsh fritillary butterfly (Euphydryas aurinia) in Northern Ireland including distribution, abundance, habitat, genetics and parasitism. This project was won under competitive tender from the Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA).

Fresh water pearl mussel surveying

Fresh water pearl mussel population restoration   

A 3 year PhD focusing on the biological basis of population supplementation for a globally endangered species; the fresh water pearl mussel (Margaritifera margaritifera). This project was won under competitive tender from the Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA).

Irish hare (Lepus timidus hibernicus)

Northern Ireland Irish hare Survey 2007   

Annual survey of Irish hare (Lepus timidius hibernicus) density and abundance throughout Northern Ireland to determine temporal trends in hare population trajectory. This was a Natural Heritage Research Partnership (NHRP) project.

Fox (Vulpes vulpes)

Belfast Hills Mammal Survey 2007/08  

Survey of rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus), Irish hare (Lepus timidus hibernicus) and fox (Vulpes vulpes) distribution and abundance at Cavehill Country Park, Divis & the Black Mountain and Slievenacloy Nature Reserve.  This project was funded by the Belfast Hills Partnership (BHP).

Ling heather (Calluna vulgaris)

Belfast Hills Upland Heath Survey 2007/08   

Survey of upland heath flora and bird diversity and abundance at Cavehill Country Park, Divis & the Black Mountain and Slievenacloy Nature Reserve.  Thjis project was funded by the Belfast Hills Partnership (BHP).
