Award Categories

Each award has specific criteria which the judges will use to shortlist the nominations. Please ensure you address all the relevant category criteria in your nomination form.

Category 1: Delivering Excellence

This award recognises an individual who consistently goes above and beyond the scope and remit of their role. Always striving for excellence, this individual takes pride in what they do and adopts a pro-active and flexible approach to the work.

Core Value

This award relates to our EXCELLENCE Value

Prize

£1,000 will be awarded to the winning individual.

Entry Criteria

Award entries should relate to work undertaken in the period between 1 August 2016 and 31 July 2017. The judging panel will be looking for entrants to demonstrate all or some of the supporting behaviours listed under the EXCELLENCE value and the specific criteria below:
•    Effort and dedication over and above the job role – going the extra mile
•    Consistently high standard of work
•    Pride in the role and in the work

Category 2: Team of the Year

This award recognises a collection of individuals who, through working together, have made a significant and positive impact. Teams can be established work teams or a group of individuals who have come together for a specific project or initiative. A team is considered to be two or more people.

Core Value

This award relates to our CONNECTED Value

Prize

£1,000 is available to each member of the team. The prize money is capped at £5,000. If there are five members on the winning team, they will each receive £1,000; ten members would receive £500 and so on.

Entry Criteria

Award entries should relate to work undertaken in the period between 1 August 2016 and 31 July 2017. The judging panel will be looking for entrants to demonstrate all or some of the supporting behaviours listed under the CONNECTED value and the specific criteria below:
•    Genuine collaboration and teamwork, using the skills of team members
•    Made an impact which could not have been achieved without effective teamwork
•    How other teams can learn from this work and spread good practice

Category 3: Achieving Ambition

This award recognises a creative and innovative individual who constantly pushes the boundaries to develop new ways to do things.  A forward-thinker who embraces change, this individual is keen to learn new things and share this knowledge with others.

This award relates to our AMBITION Value

Prize

£1,000 will be awarded to the winning individual.

Entry Criteria

Award entries should relate to work undertaken in the period between 1 August 2016 and 31 July 2017. The judging panel will be looking for entrants to demonstrate all or some of the supporting behaviours listed under the AMBITION value and the specific criteria below:
•    Creative and innovative way of dealing with issue/challenges/new way of working
•    Evidence of continuous improvement/best practice and sharing with others

Category 4: Outstanding Leadership

This award recognises an individual who by their energy, enthusiasm and motivation inspires and empowers others to succeed. A role model, this individual drives change and leads with conviction and ambition to make a real difference.

Core Value

This award relates to our INTEGRITY and RESPECT Values

Prize

£1,000 will be awarded to the winning individual.

Entry Criteria

Award entries should relate to work undertaken in the period between 1 August 2016 and 31 July 2017. The judging panel will be looking for entrants to demonstrate all or some of the supporting behaviours listed under the INTEGRITY and RESPECT values and the specific criteria below:
•    A positive attitude to change that leads others into responding to change positively
•    Ability to inspire and motivate others
•    Setting direction and leading with conviction and ambition

Category 5: Community Impact

This award recognises a project or activity that has made a significant impact on communities, either here in Northern Ireland or further afield. The project should promote social, environmental, economic, cultural or wellbeing benefits. This award is open to individuals or teams.

Core Value

This award relates to our CONNECTED Value

Prize

£1,000 will be awarded to the winning individual. If the award is won by a team, £1,000 is available to each member. The prize money is capped at £5,000. If there are five members on the winning team, they will each receive £1,000; ten members would receive £500 and so on.

•    Demonstrate how the project/activity has made a positive impact and brought real benefits to the community
•    Show evidence of partnership and engagement


Category 6: Lifetime Achievement

This award recognises a long-serving member of staff who has made a significant contribution to the University which has had a long lasting positive impact. This individual embodies all the Core Values of the University. A long-serving member of staff is someone who has 15 years' service or more.

Core Value

This award relates to all our five Core Values: RESPECT, INTEGRITY, EXCELLENCE, AMBITION and CONNECTED

Prize

£1,000 will be awarded to the winning individual.

Entry Criteria

The judging panel will be looking for entrants to demonstrate all our Core Values and the specific criteria below:
•    Significant and sustained contribution to the University
•    Advocate for the University
•    Respected by colleagues
