About Us

The Teaching Thinking Network in Ireland aims to foster collegial and educational exchange on the topic of teaching thinking, the development of thinking, creating communities of thinking, and the relationship between thinking and action.   Participation in the network extends beyond the geographical areas of Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.    Members are welcome to join from England, Scotland, Wales and beyond.

‘Thinking’ is broadly understood to include any kind of thinking and learning that is valued and can be cultivated in educational contexts.   The network welcomes members from all educational sectors – early years settings, schools and colleges, universities, and other formal and informal learning contexts.  Participants from different disciplines, from practitioners, researchers and policy makers are also invited to join.

The network will be launched in September 2013 with two one-day workshops.

The network is currently hosted by Professor Carol McGuinness at the School of Education, Queen’s University Belfast.
