Annual Seminar on Quality of Life
25-26 June 2009

The Research Forum for the Child held its annual seminar on Children's Quality of Life at Queen’s University, Belfast on  25th and 26th June 2009.  Guest speakers included Prof Ulrike Ravens-Sieberer, Professor of Child Health at the University of Hamburg and Director of the European KIDSCREEN Research Group; Dr Asher Ben-Arieh, from Hebrew University, an international expert on social indicators, particularly as they relate to child wellbeing, and  founder of the International Society of Child Indicators; and Dr Dympna Devine, a leading childhood researcher  from University College,  Dublin.   The event gave colleagues across a range of disciplines at Queen’s, including social work, nursing, education and sociology, an opportunity to discuss their work on children’s well-being with colleagues and international visitors.  Arising from the event, Dr Katrina Lloyd from Ark, who directs the  Child Forum’s Special Interest Group on Child Well-being, will be developing further collaborations with the KIDSCREEN research group and Dr Laura Lundy, Director of the Child Forum,  will edit a special edition of the  international journal of Child Indicators.

The Research Forum of the Child Forum will hold its annual seminar on Children's Quality of Life at Queen’s University, Belfast on  25th and 26th June 2009.  Guest speakers include Prof Ulrike Ravens-Sieberer,  Director of the European KIDSCREEN Research Group and Dr Asher Ben-Arieh, one of the leading international experts on social indicators, particularly as they relate to child wellbeing.
