The Research Forum for the Child Lunchtime Discussions
Room G6, School
of Education, 69/71 University Street
Tuesday 21st April 2009, 1230pm
We are planning to hold regular lunchtime discussions for members to get together and discuss some of the common issues that arise in doing research with children and young people. If you have any suggestions for future discussions please contact Nicola Ingram: ningram01@qub.ac.uk
The next lunch-time discussion is entitled ‘Doing Child-Centred Research in Institutions: Negotiating your Position as a Researcher’ and will be held on Tuesday 21st April at 1230pm in room G6, School of Education, 69 University Street.
Visiting institutional settings with well-established hierarchies and normative adult-child relationships can often be an unsettling experience for researchers. This is particularly true when the research depends on overcoming some of the institutional barriers between adults and children. We aim to explore and discuss some of the difficulties that can arise in trying to negotiate your position as a researcher with both children and adults.
Please contact Nicola Ingram if you are interested in attending.

Staff who are willing to share their opinions and experiences, and postgraduate students who wish to take part in the discussion, please contact Nicola Ingram - ningram01@qub.ac.uk - to register interest.
A sandwich lunch will be provided.
