Queen's Centenary 2008
Welcome from the Chancellor
Queen's University has a long and impressive history based on a commitment to the highest standards of scholarship and intellectual discovery, and to contributing to the greater good, nationally and internationally. Its graduates are leaders in Northern Ireland and around the world - in business, the arts, government, science and civic life.
In the 21st century, institutions of higher learning are more important than ever to global social progress. Queen's traditions of academic excellence and service to society ensure that it is set to play an even larger role on the world stage in the future.
As Chancellor of Queen's since 1999, I am honoured to be part of Queen's tradition and its future, and I look forward to taking part in the University's Centenary celebrations.
Senator George Mitchell
