Commonwealth Lawyers' Association Property Law Conference

The Commonwealth Lawyers' Association in conjunction with the Law Society of Northern Ireland and Queen’s University, Belfast are hosting a Commonwealth Property Law Conference in Belfast on 27 and 28 September 2012.  The varied programme will appeal to both the academic lawyer and practitioner. 

Keynote speakers include the Right Hon. Lord Kerr of Tonaghmore, Justice of the Supreme Court, United Kingdom; Professor John Wylie of Cardiff University School of Law; Professor Elisabeth Cooke, Law Commissioner for England and Wales and Mr Justice Bernard McCloskey, Chair of the Northern Ireland Law Commission. 

Topics under discussion include Land Tenure – opportunities for simplification; Urban Development – Strata Title and multi-unit developments and property law and natural disasters.  In addition there will be important discussions on the banking and credit crisis and implications for property transactions.  Lord Kerr will speak on Human Rights and Property Law.  Please refer to the detailed programme for more information. 

The Conference convenes from 12.30pm on 27 September with registration and a delegates’ lunch.  There will be included in the registration fee a drinks receptions and a Conference dinner sponsored by First Title.  The Conference will close at 5.00pm on Friday 28 September.
