The final stage of your PhD cycle will be taken up with the practicalities of completing write up, submitting your thesis, and going through the ‘Viva Voce’ examination. This is, of course, a crucial stage in the course of the PhD, but don’t be too daunted: this stage does involve a great deal of work, but at last you get to see the fruits of your labour in the form of a finished thesis! The final stage of your PhD is the culmination of at least two years of hard work and it is important to keep focused and maintain momentum to ensure the finished product is as good as it can possibly be. With this in mind, the current section will offer advice on the practicalities of finishing write up – with tips on reviewing and proof-reading – as well as providing information on the procedures involved in thesis submission and the ‘Viva’.
