The Graduate School

Supervising Research Students

The University’s Graduate school runs a one-day training course on supervising research students.  The course is compulsory for new probationary members of staff before they can start supervising, and is also open to more experienced members of staff.

This workshop is led by Professor John Wakeford who runs a national programme on postgraduate research (www.missendencentre.co.uk).  We have invited him to provide an opportunity for senior staff and experienced supervisors to be updated on the Queen’s regulations, current developments and to exchange and develop ideas on how to improve the experience of supervisors and postgraduate research students.

Numbers are limited to 20 at each briefing.  Participants will be invited to identify in advance specific topics requiring discussion and the agendas modified to meet their needs.
