Training within the Postgraduate Researcher Development Programme is primarily designed to develop knowledge and skill in relation to areas identified as important to Postgraduate Researcher Development within Queen’s University. A programme of skills training is provided by the training team, based at the Graduate School. The individual courses vary in length from a quarter day to 2 days. They are led by academic and academic–related staff within Queen’s and also by external providers who are chosen based on their specialist experience of particular content areas and the University Sector overall.
Training courses for the 2016-17 academic year are available for viewing below and have been categorised within the four areas of the Researcher Development Framework. A course calendar is available here. This calendar will be updated regularly throughout the year. A guide to the courses offered by their pillar is available here.
PSTP courses for 2016/17 are available for booking from early October 2016. To book a place on PSTP courses you will need to log onto QSIS. Instructions on how to enroll through your QSIS account are available here. Please note each course opens for booking 60 days before the course date, until then you will be prevented from booking onto the course through your QSIS account.
Booking & Attendance Policy
It is important that you remember to cancel off any course that you are unable to attend as this impacts on the cost effectiveness of the programme and means that other students cannot take advantage of spaces that become available.
- If you are unable to attend a course you must give at least 48 hours' notice of the cancellation. The simplest was of doing this is by cancelling (dropping) your place through QSIS. You can do this up to 48 hours before the start of the course, at which point you must email firstname.lastname@example.org.
- If you fail to attend or cancel in time without providing a valid reason you will be considered a non-attendee. If you are a non-attendee for 3 courses or more in any one academic year, you will be restricted from booking any further PSTP courses until you have met with a member of the PRDP team to discuss your skills training development.
