Abstract

The aim of this special session is to present the state-of-the-art results in the area of theory and applications of fuzzy control system design and analysis, and to get together well-known and potential researchers in this area, from both the academia and industry. In the proposed special session, the focus is mainly on the fuzzy control system design and analysis with emphasis on the theory and applications. The important problems and difficulties on the fuzzy control systems will be addressed, their concepts will be provided and methodologies will be proposed to take care of the nonlinear systems using the fuzzycontrol system approaches.

Abstract It is an established trend in modern smart technologies, that include large-scale systems (smart grid, automated driving, cobots) and small-scale products(smart  watches, bio-monitoring),  to  consider    and  characterize  the human  involvement in system operation to improve efficiency.  Nevertheless, human-in-the-Loop systems still represent a fairly new research topic in control systemsengineering.  Historically, in the design of automated control systems, the standard  approach  wasto attain the  highest  possible level  of  automation, up to entirely removing the human, considered as the weakest link in the process control  loop.   The  human-machine interaction  is  nowadays  at  the  center  of the development of control systems in the above mentioned fields, although how to effectively integrate the important role played by humans in the control problem formulation is still an open question. This Special Session is focused on human-centric control system technologies and the main focus is on methods and implementations for the design and analysis of human-centric automated systems.  In particular, modeling and integration of human  behavioral/cognitive/physiological characteristic in controlstrategies is of interest.  

Novel contributions are sought that may include, butare not limited to:
  • Wearable based solutions for activity and gesture recognition and human characterization;
  • Machine learning and control systems solutions for smart environment;
  • Solutions for improving human experience in smart products and systems;
  • Intelligent solutions for health monitoring and improving user well-being;
  • Personalized technologies with learning capabilities;
  • Support Decision Systems based on data-driven approaches.
