32nd International Manufacturing Conference
3rd-4th September 2015

Queens University Belfast

The 32nd International Manufacturing Conference IMC32, will be hosted by the School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering, Queens University Belfast starting with a welcome reception on the evening of Wednesday 2nd and followed by the technical programmme on Thursday 3rd and Friday 4th of September 2015.  This conference uniquely showcases research undertaken in academia and industry by researchers in Manufacturing Engineering domains across all career stages and specifically welcomes early stage researchers and PhD students.  The conference promotes specific innovations in manufacturing technologies and is an excellent opportunity for networking between researchers, entrepreneurs and innovators as well as government and funding agencies.  In organising a high profile and high impact programme of activities, the organising committee wishes to invite contributions from companies, academic institutions and research institutes nationally and internationally, for whom IMC32 will have particular relevance.

‌The theme of this year’s conference is ‘Digital Manufacturing’ which is intended to highlight simulation based innovation across all of the engineering disciplines which support the manufacturing enterprise.  Advanced digital manufacturing methods align perfectly with the mission of the European Technology Platform Manufuture  which proposes ‘the development of methods and tools which are capable of speeding up the rate of industrial transformation to high-added-value products, processes and services, secure high-skills employment and win a major share of world manufacturing output in a future, knowledge-driven economy’.

‌‌We invite four-page extended abstracts (submitted via imc32.exordo.com) from all areas of Manufacturing Engineering and its support disciplines but with particular emphasis on digital methods and simulation based activities in the following areas:

  • Manufacturing Innovation
  • Manufacturing Processes
  • Medical Device & Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing
  • Computer Control & Automation
  • Machine Tool Design
  • Design for Manufacture
  • Rapid Prototyping
  • Manufacturing Management
  • Life Cycle Engineering
  • Energy & Resource Management
  • Education and Professional Development
IMC32 intends to select up to ten of the best presented papers and recommend them for publication in the international Mechanical Sciences (MS) journal.  MS is an open-access publication run by Delft University of Technology, and  is a scientific journal of the International Federation for the Promotion of Mechanism and Machine Science (IFToMM), indexed by Scopus.  IMC32 will cover the publication costs for papers accepted for final publication.  Selected papers will be subject to final review and enhancement prior to publication.
