About Us

Who are we?

The International Student Support team is here to help you make the most of your experience as an international student.   We provide advice and assistance to international students from the time you apply to the University, right through your studies with us to when you are taking your next steps after graduation.

Our dedicated team can provide you with specialist advice in relation to visa and immigration matters including applying for your visa to come to the UK and assisting you with any queries you may have during your time here.

Our immigration advice and services are carried out in accordance with the UKCISA Codes of Ethics and we are authorised to provide immigration advice by the Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner (OISC) who regulate the provision of immigration advice in the UK.

We understand that moving to a new country can be tough, however we are here to guide you through this process and to ensure that your time in Belfast is as enjoyable as possible.

 Our Services

We can provide advice and assistance in relation a range of visa and immigration issues including the following:

•             Applying for a visa to come to the UK

•             Extending your visa in the UK

•             Lost passport or visa

•             Errors on your visa

•             Withdrawing from the University

•             Changing your course

If you have any difficulties during your time at the University please let us know and we will do our best to assist.

Immigration advice can only be provided in writing (eg email) or in a face-to-face appointment. Why not send us an email (iss@qub.ac.uk) or visit us during our Drop-In sessions:

Drop-in Sessions

  • Location: 1st Floor Student Guidance Centre
  • Times: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 2.00-3.30pm.  Wednesday 1.00-2.30pm
  • Who is this for? Any student who would like to have a quick chat with an International Student Support Officer
  • What should I bring? Your Student Card as ID
  • Do I need to make an appointment? There is no need to make a prior appointment.  Each student will be given 10 minutes to discuss their query.  If the International Student Support Officer judges that the query is too complex to deal with in 10 minutes or not appropriate to deal with in a drop-in session, an appointment will be made for you.

Please be aware that, at busy times, you may have to wait for an appointment.
