How to Apply

If you would like to apply for US Federal Loans then you must firstly establish your eligibility by filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You must do this online at When completing your FAFSA, you must list Queen's University Belfast as your school.  Our school code is G22736. • Once you have submitted your FAFSA, an Institutional Student Information Report (ISIR) is produced. We need this document to determine your loan eligibility.
  • If you have listed Queen's as your school, your ISIR should be sent to us automatically by the US Department of Education.  However, we recommend that you email us at to confirm that you have submitted your FAFSA. It may take a week for the ISIR to be received by Queen's.
  • As soon as we have received your ISIR, International Student Support (ISS) will contact you with the next steps in the process and provide you with a cost of attendance for your programme. You will need to confirm your programme information, any scholarships received and complete a number of loan documents required for each loan.
