The 'PhD Writers' Communities' project is student-led, inter-disciplinary initiative designed to bring together research students from related disciplines.  Using regular meetings to foster an open and relaxed 'writing feedback space', the project offers its participants the opportunities to both receive and deliver constructive critiques of each other's work (even at draft level), to practice the delivery of research papers in an academic setting, and to network socially with fellow doctoral candidates.  Building on recent research that has found 'social writing spaces' as strongly beneficial for researchers on both academic and social levels, the project provides a valuable and unique level of support previously unavailable to the postgraduate community in Queen's.
