Nicholas joined SARC in 2006 to pursue a PhD in movement based instrument design. His research explores notions of physicality and effort in the context of digital musical instrument performance.
Prior to joining SARC Nicholas obtained an M.A. from Trinity College Dublin in Multimedia Systems, an MSc in Music Technology from Dublin Institute of Technology and a B.Sc from the National University of Ireland Galway in Applied Physics and Electronics.
Between studies he has worked as a tomato cultivator, sound installation artist, telecoms engineer, laundry repair man, teacher, lecturer, sound designer, brewer, dreamer and enthusiastic supporter of hercletiaestheticsm.
