Rui is a sound artist , that has presented his work in Canada, Brazil, France, Portugal and Ireland, individually or aborating with visual artists, performers, composers and theatre directors.
Rui did his undergrad in media studies, worked in a dance organization called c-e-m : centro em movimento and did an MA in Sonic Arts with funding from the Fundacao Calouste Gulbenkian. Currently he is pursuing a phd at the Sonic Arts Research Centre, with support from Fundacao Ciencia e Tecnologia ( www.fct.mctes.pt), under the supervision of Dr. Pedro Rebelo,
His researches explores the notion of intermediality, everyday aesthetics and identity in site-specific sound art. Developing works, that range from mobile network broadcasts to performance art, positioning listening as an evocative experience, that enables to question notions of body, place and narrative.
