Performance

Performance at SARC embodies a range of research activities and practices that include: performance with new technologies, performance systems design, critical performance studies, and contemporary performance practices (new music, improvisation, experimental music, live electronic music, computer-interactive performance, interdisciplinary performance, site-specific and networked performance). There is a thriving culture of performance within the School that benefits from seminars and research groups, weekly performances by visiting artists, masterclasses, staff- and student-led ensembles, and annual festivals including the internationally renowned Sonorities Festival of Contemporary Music. Performers regularly collaborate with composers, engineers, designers, and visiting artists in a number of practical and research-based contexts.
