2.4.1.1 State Councillor Madame Yandong Liu visits to Queen’s University Belfast in 2012

 

  1. A signing of an agreement with Shanghai Jiaotong University took place at Queen's University Belfast.
  2. Madame Yandong witnesses the signing of agreements between Queen's and Shanghai Jiaotong University to build on existing links in China.

2.4.1.4 ISAC meets UK Secretary of State for Business in October, 2010

 

Rt Hon Dr Vince Cable and Prof Zhou, Automation department, Tsinghua University
ISAC were invited to a round table discussion with the Rt Hon Dr Vince Cable about Science, Innovation and Business Growth held at the British Embassy in Beijing earlier this month.
Dr Cable, the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills and President of the Board of Trade was in China as part of a high-profile UK government and trade mission led by Prime Minster David Cameron
Prof Donghua Zhou, Head of the Automation Department from Tsinghua University, and his colleague Prof Shiji Song briefed Dr Cable about research collaborations with Queens. These form part of the University’s £2.3 million Science Bridge project on knowledge transfer in Sustainable Energy and Environment.

2.4.1.6 The Delegation of Shanghai Jiaotong University Visiting to Queen’s University Belfast in 2012

Shanghai Jiaotong University’s President Prof. Dexiu Ma visited to the School of and signed the agreement of postgraduates training with Queen’s University Belfast on 13th April, 2012.

 

2.4.1.7 The Delegation from Tsinghua University to QUB (April 2010)

On April 28th 2010, a delegation from Tsinghua University, led by Professor Xin Kegui, Deputy Dean of School of Civil Engineering, commenced a two day visit of Queen’s University Belfast. Also attending from Tsinghua University was Professor Nie Jianguo (Head of the Institute of Structures) and Professor Peiyu Yan (Head of the Institute of Building Materials). The delegation was received by the Head of the School of Planning, Architecture and Civil Engineering (SPACE) at Queen’s, Professor David J. Cleland, who chaired a meeting aimed at strengthening the collaborative link between SPACE and the School of Civil Engineering in Tsinghua University. Two research lectures were also given by Professor Yan Peiyu and Professor Nie Jianguo to staff and PhD students from SPACE. A tour of the laboratory facilities was additionally arranged to discuss ongoing research and current methods of best practice within SPACE.

 

2.4.1.8 The Delegation from QUB to China (September 2010)

From 10-25 September 2010, a delegation of academics and senior managers from QUB travelled to China as part the Science Bridge project. The purpose of the trip was to meet with a wide range of academic, government and industry partners in China to both strengthen existing, and establish new, collaborative partnerships in terms of education and research strategy. Meetings were held with the following partners as part of this trip:

2.4.1.9 Meeting with Institute of Building Materials, China Academy of Building Materials (September 2010)

On 23 September 2010, Dr Faguang Leng, Institute of Building Materials, China Academy of Building Materials visited QUB to discuss common research interests and explore opportunities for further collaboration.

 

2.4.1.10 Delegation from QUB to China (September 2011)

From 21 September to 01 October 2011, a delegation of academics and senior managers from QUB travelled to China as part the Science Bridge project. Similar to the trip undertaken in 2010, the purpose of the trip was to meet with a wide range of academic, government and industry partners in China to both strengthen existing, and establish new, collaborative partnerships in terms of education and research strategy.
