Attendance at this course is mandatory for anyone acting in the capacity of Nominated Buyer for their unit.  Anyone who is likely to be involved in buying goods or services, particularly those who have recently joined the University, is strongly advised to attend.

Content:

  • Purchasing Regulations, Procedures and Thresholds (The rules on why we do what we do)
  • Purchasing Systems (What we do it with)
  • Accounting for VAT in Purchasing (When and how we pay VAT on what we buy)
  • Basic Purchasing Law (How To 'Stay Legal')

Aim:

To provide the required guidance for those directly involved in the purchase of goods and services for the University which will ultimately ensure that purchasing power is maximised, that value for money is obtained and that legal requirements are met.
