This full day course is aimed at staff with responsibility for (or intending to set up) a social media site for the University.
The course will begin with an overview of the most popular social media tools (including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube) and will outline the University’s objectives regarding social media. Case studies will be presented of how Queen’s and other universities are using social media to connect with different groups including prospective and current students, staff and alumni. Participants will also be given the opportunity to discuss the problems and challenges of using social media and how to deal with negative comments. Guidance on how to implement a successful social media strategy will be provided, along with technical advice on setting up and monitoring Facebook pages and Twitter accounts.
