This half day course is aimed at academic staff interested in using social media in their teaching or research activities.
The course will begin with an overview of the most popular social media tools (including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube) and will outline the University’s objectives regarding social media. Case studies will be presented of how Queen’s and other universities are using social media to enhance the student learning experience and to collaborate with research partners. Participants will also be given the opportunity to discuss the problems and challenges of using social media and how to deal with negative comments. Guidance on how to plan content will be provided, along with technical advice on setting up and monitoring Facebook pages and Twitter accounts.
