Writing for Publication: Researcher Writing Retreat

Event Description

8-9 January 2018

9.30 am - 4.30 pm

Finding time to write up your research, whether a journal article or book chapter, can be difficult.  This one-day workshop has been organised to provide researchers with an opportunity to spend time focusing on an important piece of writing, which could be a journal article, book chapter or research proposal.  The workshop will be facilitated by Dr Daniel Soule, an experienced research writing trainer.  Dr Soule will be available for one-to-one breakout time during the day to work with individual writers on their projects.

Introductions and disconnecting - We will do the usual meet and greet, introducing ourselves and say what we are working on.  Daniel, the facilitator, will set the context for the day: to write.  There will be regular breaks and lunch will be provided.

Other than that the point of the day is to give you space and time away from your office to truly focus on one thing: your paper/chapter/proposal.  It is as simple as that.  No distractions other that those you bring yourself.  So turn off your phone and any of the many reasons you may have at hand not to write.

Resources: Participants should bring a laptop, and any research papers or data which will enable you to write your researcher paper/chapter/proposal.
