Health Promotion and Awareness Events

The University offers numerous health related programmes to create awareness and improve the health of staff, including planned and regular health promotion events tied in with national campaigns. Details of upcoming events are available in News and Events.

Supporting Healthy and Active Lifestyles

The University has great sporting facilities which are second to none and staff can avail of. The University also promotes the use of alternative modes of transport to increase activity levels and reduce environmental impact. The handy Travel Guide has been developed detailing different travel modes to and from the University.

Queen's Sport is on the doorstep of the main campus and staff can avail of reduced membership rates.

 An Annual Children's Activity Programme is provided by Queens Sport during the summer months. This is an opportunity for children to try a new activity or improve their existing techniques in a fun safe environment. Staff members have access to reduced rates.

Queen's Park Run takes place every Saturday morning at 9:30am at Queen's University Sport Grounds, Upper Malone, South Belfast. This is a free event and interested parties can register to attend on the Queen's parkrun website. Participants run for their own enjoyment so you can join whatever your pace.

Cycle + Scheme is the University's cycle to work scheme. It offers staff the opportunity to obtain a bicycle and safety equipment for less than normal cost, so that they can cycle to work.

The University Car Share Club has been developed to enable staff and students to find a potential car sharer. The benefits include: reduced travel costs, reduction in traffic congestion and pollution and reduction in stress reducing time spent driving to work.

A Travel Loan has been introduced as part of the University’s commitment to sustainable travel. Staff members have access to interest free schemes to purchase annual public transport travel cards for commuting to work.

Personal Security

A dedicated Security Service is committed to ensuring a safe and secure environment for all persons working, studying and visiting the University campus.

Personal Security Advice is available to support staff while travelling on public or private transport as well as providing useful advice on how to protect personal possessions. The Lone Working Guidelines provide guidance to staff working alone or in isolation.
