Awards made automatically to new international students who are normally resident in Canada or the United States of America on enrolment.

This award is available to students from the USA and Canada who will be starting their full-time undergraduate degree at Queen’s University Belfast in September 2022. The award is for high achieving students who can also demonstrate a commitment to leadership within their local or global community.

To be considered for this award, you must apply to Queen’s University Belfast for an undergraduate programme by 18th February 2022 – applications via UCAS or Direct will be accepted. You must also complete a separate application submission for this award. The following criteria will be used to determine eligibility:

  • Your commitment and contribution to local and/or global community
  • A reference from a relevant school/community/societal leader

This award is exclusively for new International students beginning their first year of full-time study on the graduate entry LLB (Senior Status) accelerated qualifying law degree at Queen's University Belfast in the academic year 2022/23 who meet the conditions of their academic offer.

No separate application for this scholarship is required. If you are holding an offer for graduate entry LLB (Senior Status) accelerated qualifying law degree and meet the criteria as set out in these terms & conditions, you will automatically be awarded the LLB Senior Status International Scholarship upon enrolment.

All eligible International applicants will receive notification shortly after receiving their offer.

Queen's Excellence Award
For exceptional North American students continuing their undergraduate programme. Exclusions apply.

This merit-based award is exclusive to international students who will commence their full-time and full duration undergraduate programme in the academic year 2022/23. Eligible students who achieve a 75% GPA in the academic year 2022/23 will be awarded a merit based award in the subsequent academic year 2023/24. Exceptional students who maintain a minimum GPA of 75% may receive this award in consecutive years

Terms and ConditionsVALUE: £2000

This merit-based award is exclusive to international students who have achieved a minimum GPA of 75% in their previous year’s academic study at Queen's University Belfast.

No separate application for this scholarship is required. If you achieve at least 75% GPA at the end of the academic year and meet the eligibility criteria as set out in the terms & conditions, you will automatically be awarded a Queen’s Excellence Award following enrolment in the next year of your undergraduate programme.

Early Confirmation Award 2022/23
Unconditional offer holders from North America paying fees in full can receive £1500 tuition fee reduction. Deadlines apply.

New international students with unconditional offers for the academic year 2022/23 may receive a discount of £1500 when paying their tuition fees in full* by the appropriate deadline.

Terms and Conditions VALUE: £1500

A £1500 reduction in tuition fees is available to new international students beginning a full-time course in the academic year 2022/23 who hold an unconditional offer and pay tuition fees less any International Office awards including the Early Confirmation Award by the following deadlines:

  • Undergraduate unconditional offer holders 30 June 2022 or within 5 days* of their offer becoming unconditional; and not later than 19 August 2022. *This is to prevent delays in CAS issuance during the peak period.
  • Postgraduate Taught unconditional offer holders 30 June 2022
  • Postgraduate Research unconditional offer holders not later than 90 days before the start date given in their offer letter

For children, grandchildren or brothers and sisters of Queen’s alumni and current students beginning a full duration course at Queen’s University Belfast. Available to eligible international students enrolling on undergraduate, postgraduate taught or postgraduate research programmes. Exclusions apply.

Terms and Conditions

The scholarship may only be claimed by students whose sibling, parent or grandparent is currently pursuing, or has already completed, a full duration* undergraduate or postgraduate programme at Queen's University Belfast. (*All years of programme must be completed at Queen’s University Belfast).

Step children and step siblings may also be eligible.

Students wishing to avail of the Queen’s Family Scholarship may be required to provide additional verification of their relationship to the current Queen’s University Belfast student or Queen’s University Belfast Alumni through whom they are claiming the Scholarship.

 

Undergraduate students must be beginning a full duration undergraduate programme i.e. a minimum of 3 years at the Queen's University Belfast campus.

For one exceptional student from the USA, studying MA Global Security and Borders. This award is managed by the Fulbright Commission.

  • One year award
  • Full tuition-fee waiver and stipend
  • Students must apply to the MA Global Security and Borders programme at QUB and directly to Fulbright

For applicants from the USA

For high ability students from the USA who wish to study for a graduate degree at Queen’s University Belfast.

  • One year award (two year options available)
  • Full tuition-fee waiver, stipend and academic expenses

For applicants from the USA

For future US leaders who wish to study for a graduate degree in Ireland and Northern Ireland. Applicants are judged on academic excellence, a record of outstanding leadership, and a sustained commitment to community and public service.

Hillary Rodham Clinton Award for Peace & Reconciliation
For one exceptional US student who identifies as female

For one exceptional US student who identifies as female. This award can be applied to one of five Masters programmes at Queen’s University Belfast.

  • Student apply for this award whilst completing their application for their chosen programme

Mary McNeill Scholarships
Mary McNeill, author of The life and times of Mary Ann McCracken, was a leading figure in the Irish Association.

One scholarship to the value of £5,000 is available for well–qualified students enrolling in the one–year MA in Irish Studies at the Queen’s University of Belfast in September 2022.  This scholarship is open only to residents of the USA or Canada, enrolling as overseas students on this MA course, and will take the form of a fee bursary covering part of their student fees.

The Norman Houston Award
For Study Abroad applicants from the USA

This award has been created in memory of the late Norman Houston, friend of Queen’s and former Director of the Northern Ireland Bureau in the USA.

One award will be provided each academic year to provide a full tuition-fee and accommodation waiver for an exceptional visiting (Study Abroad) student from the USA.

The award package includes;

  • Semester tuition-fee waiver
  • University accommodation
