This information applies only to POSTGRADUATE awards offered to international students progressing from INTO Queen's, paying the full international tuition fee rate and joining the University in the academic year 2022/23. If there are any questions we haven't covered please contact us.

Vice Chancellor's International Attainment Scholarship

  • How do I apply for the Vice Chancellor's International Attainment Scholarship?

    You must have received an offer of a place to study an eligible postgraduate taught programme at the University which you have firmly accepted, completed the online application form and submitted a short video by the deadline of 10 May 2022.

  • Can I send supporting documents to support my application?

    Please do not send references, academic transcripts or any form of supporting documentation with your scholarship application.

    Any documents will be deleted and will not be taken into consideration by the panel.

    Your application should consist of your online application form and video submission.

  • What is the value of the Vice Chancellor's International Attainment Scholarship?

    The Vice Chancellor's International Attainment Scholarship will provide 50% of the cost of tuition fees and is awarded each year for up to a maximum of two years.

     

  • How many awards are there?

    The Vice Chancellor's International Attainment Scholarship offers:

    4 awards for postgraduate taught students

     

  • Are there any guidance notes to help with my video?

    Your video should outline why you want to come and study at Queen's University Belfast and how you believe your programme of choice will benefit you in your future career aspirations. Please keep to the subject matter, we do not require a list of your academic achievements.

     Guidelines 

     The criteria is not for a high quality video production, you will be judged on the content and the quality of presentation skills only.

    • Please ensure that your video is clearly audible. 
    • If we cannot open your video your submission will not be accepted.
    • Please ensure that you clearly identify your submission by including your Queen's University Belfast application reference and your full name on the email which accompanies your video.
    • Any videos that exceed the requested length of 2 minutes will NOT be considered.

    Please ensure that your video can be opened and viewed by us using VLC media player. VLC media player supports many video file formats, and we would recommend MP4.

    We would suggest using the WeTransfer programme to send your video and would ask that you test it to ensure that it can be opened, before sending

     

     

     

  • What is the deadline for applications for the Vice Chancellor's International Attainment Scholarship for postgraduate taught studies?

    For postgraduate taught applicants the deadline for the Vice Chancellor's International Attainment Scholarship is 15:00 BST 10 May 2022.

    You must have submitted your video, online application and firmly accepted your offer by this deadline.

    Please ensure you leave adequate time to submit your video as these can take some time to forward during busy periods. If we receive your video after the deadline it will not be considered.

    If you have not firmly accepted your offer by the deadline your application for the Vice Chancellor's International Attainment Scholarship will not be considered.

  • How will I know I've been awarded the Vice Chancellor's International Attainment Scholarship?

    This is a competitive process and not all applications will be successful.

    A panel of academics from all 3 faculties sit in July 2022 to determine which applications are successful.

    We contact the successful candidates by telephone in the first instance.

    Please be aware we  contact only the successful candidates. If you have not been contacted by the end of July 2022 you may assume you have been unsuccessful. 

General

  • Do you have any full fee scholarships?

    We do not offer full fee scholarships but for exceptionally talented postgraduate taught applicants we offer the Vice Chancellor's International Attainment Scholarship.

    This awards a 50% reduction in tuition fees for all years of the programme.

  • When will I receive my scholarship?

    All International Office scholarships are awarded as a discount on tuition fees.

    This will be credited to your tuition fee account following enrolment.

    No cash alternative is available.

  • Can I use my International Office scholarship as my deposit?

    International Office scholarships cannot be used in lieu of any required deposit and no cash alternative is available.

  • Do I need to provide evidence of my qualifications or references to access International Office Scholarships?

    Where you are required to make an online application academic or professional achievements will not be considered. Any documents, certificates or references attached to any application will be disregarded and deleted.

     

    All applications are assessed on their individual merits and are considered equally.

  • When can I apply for International Office Scholarships?

    Applicants can only apply and be considered for International Office Scholarships after they have been offered a place to study on their chosen eligible programme. 

    Where you are required to make an online application, this cannot be considered in advance of you receiving an offer of a place to study your chosen programme.

    You will be automatically assessed for the International Office Postgraduate Taught Scholarship - no application is needed.
