Which scholarships are available?

I am a POSTGRADUATE RESEARCH applicant which scholarships are available to me?
Applicants who have previously completed a full degree programme, Study Abroad or exchange programme can apply for the Queen's Loyalty Scholarship.
If your parents or siblings are currently studying or completed a full degree programme at the Belfast campus you can apply for the Queen's Family Scholarship.
Where eligible the Early Bird Reward can be combined to increase your discount.

- How do I apply for International Office Scholarships?
All awards require you to make an application but you should only do this after you have been offered a place to study on your chosen programme.

- Do all postgraduate research programmes receive International Office Scholarships?
The following programmes are excluded from eligibility for the International Office Postgraduate Research Scholarships:
- All Distance Learning Programmes
- Non-standard fee courses including part-time programmes
- External PhD programmes where students only undertake part of their research at Queen’s University.
- Higher Doctorates - Doctor of Divinity (DD), Doctor of Laws (LLD), Doctor of Letters (DLitt), Doctor of Science (DSc), Doctor of Science (Economics) (DSc(Econ)), Doctor of Science, (Education) (DSc(Ed)) and Doctor of Social Science (DSSc)

Early Bird Reward

What is the Early Bird Reward?
The Early Bird Reward is a 10% waiver on net tuition fees for new international students who have an unconditional offer and pay 90% of net tuition fees not later than 3 months before their start date as specified on their offer letter.
- How do I qualify for the Early Bird Reward?
You must comply with all the following conditions by the appropriate deadline:
- Be a new student enrolling at Queen's University Belfast for the first time
- Have an unconditional offer
- Pay 90% of your net tuition fees not later than 3 months before your start date as specified on your offer letter
- What are the deadlines for the Early Bird Reward?
Postgraduate Research students must pay 90% of their Year 1 fees not later than 3 months before their start date as specified on their offer letter.
- When will I receive my Early Bird Reward?
Contact internationalscholarships@qub.ac.uk with your proof of payment and we will credit your Early Bird Reward to your tuition fee account. If you fail to notify internationalscholarships@qub.ac.uk we cannot award your Early Bird Reward.
- How much do I need to pay to qualify for the Early Bird Reward?

How do I apply for the Vice Chancellor's International Attainment Scholarship?
This award is not available for postgraduate research applicants.

Do you have any full fee scholarships?
We do not offer full fee scholarships.
Additional funding for Postgraduate research may be available from other areas of the University.
- When will I receive my scholarship?
All International Office scholarships are awarded as a discount on tuition fees.
This will be credited to your tuition fee account following enrolment.
No cash alternative is available.
- Can I use my International Office scholarship as my deposit?
International Office scholarships cannot be used in lieu of any required deposit and no cash alternative is available.
- Do I need to provide evidence of my qualifications or references to access International Office Scholarships?
Where you are required to make an online application academic or professional achievements will not be considered. Any documents, certificates or references attached to any application will be disregarded and deleted.
All applications are assessed on their individual merits and are considered equally.
- When can I apply for International Office Scholarships?
Applicants can only apply and be considered for International Office Scholarships after they have been offered a place to study on their chosen eligible programme.
Where you are required to make an online application, this cannot be considered in advance of you receiving an offer of a place to study your chosen programme.

My tuition fees are being paid by a sponsor. Will I be awarded a scholarship from the International Office?
If your fees are being paid by a sponsor, this could include your government or a charitable organisation you are not eligible for International Office scholarships. Only self funded international students paying the full international tuition fee rate are eligible for International Office scholarships.
- I have been awarded a scholarship from the Faculty I will be studying with or another part of Queen's University Belfast. Can I use this with my International Office scholarship?
You may apply and/or be considered for more than one award administered by Queen’s University Belfast but if successful would receive only the highest value award with the lower value award cancelled or allocated to another applicant.
- Are there any scholarships available from the International Office for the second or subsequent year of my programme?
International Office scholarships are available to new students and are paid for your first year of study only.
