Update to Offer Holders: May 2020

Your Offer

Please be assured that your offer to study with us at Queen’s University Belfast has not changed. If your current programme of study or methods of assessment have been adjusted, we will be as flexible as possible to ensure that you are still able to join us and that your education is not unfairly affected.

Start Date

Your safety is our priority and we will take all necessary steps to protect the health and wellbeing of current and future students. We are currently aiming to commence teaching for the upcoming academic year 2020-21 on 21 September, as planned. We are, however, putting in place contingency measures to facilitate alternative modes of delivery in case they are needed.

If you need to apply for a Tier 4 visa, we will give you advice and assistance in doing this once you are ready to travel to the UK.

Changes to help you progress to Queen’s

To help support your application to Queen’s, we have made a number of changes to help during the current situation:

Accepting new English Language qualifications

For offer holders who need to complete an English Language test to meet the conditions of their offer, the closure of IELTS centres has had a significant impact.  In response, we have expanded the number of accepted English Language Tests to include Duolingo English Test (DET) and TOEFL Home Edition. Further information may be found here.

Extending Early Bird Reward

Exceptionally, for 2020-21 intake, the deadline for the Early Bird Reward has been extended to 15 September 2020.  Further information, including Terms and Conditions, may be found here.

Online Pre Sessional English

Due to travel restrictions in place globally, INTO Queen’s has developed a new Online Pre Sessional English course which may be taken over 8 weeks or 12 weeks, according to your  level. Further information may be found here.

Deposits

If your course requires the payment of a deposit in order to secure your place, this will still be required. However, we have applied additional flexibility by adjusting deposit deadlines for some courses and have introduced an online deposit payment facility that you can access.
