The Right Honourable Tony Abbott AC visits Queen's
The University was pleased to host a visit by the Right Honourable Tony Abbott AC, former Prime Minister of Australia and current Advisor to the UK Board of Trade, on Wednesday 28 July 2021.
Mr Abbott delivered a lecture focusing on a wide range of issues, dealing with international relations, and with the challenges facing governments and world leaders in relation to economic, constitutional and cultural change and impact.
There was a lively, informative question and answer discussion, and Professor Richard English, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Internationalisation and Engagement, who chaired the session commented: "It was excellent to see vibrant debate on major themes. The students’ valuable questions and Mr Abbott’s honest and frank approach made the discussion both enjoyable and educational."
Mr Abbott’s visit to Northern Ireland was made possible by the Worldwide Support for Development (WSD), a not-for-profit organization committed to facilitating international cooperation and support in social welfare, academia and education.
