MAKEitDAIRY: How do we keep dairy products healthy for an individual and environmentally sustainable?
Take part in a special two-day MAKEathon at Food Innnovation Centre, CAFRE, Loughry Campus.
When: Autumn 2020 (date tbc)
MAKEitDAIRY is organised by Queen’s University Belfast and College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise (CAFRE). It is part of a series of MAKEathons delivered by the MAKEit Project under the consortium of EIT Food, partially funded by EIT. MAKEit is taking over Europe to tackle problems in our food supply chain including sugar, cocoa, seafood, fruit and vegetables, bread and bakery, dairy and meat.
During this MAKEathon you will tackle how we can maintain the health of dairy products but in an environmentally sustainable way.
We are looking for undergraduates, postgraduates and researchers who are, or can be, hackers, makers, storytellers, foodies, nudgers, sociologists, scientists, communicators, entrepreneurs, designers and more. You don’t have to be a professional in the dairy industry, just be willing to bring your expertise, passion and team spirit to work collaboratively to solve the problem at hand.
PEOPLE FROM ALL DISCIPLINES ARE HIGHLY ENCOURAGED TO APPLY. We are committed to diversity and members of under-represented groups are particularly encouraged to apply.
Over the two days, Food Innovation Centre, CAFRE and Queen’s University Belfast will be providing the space, tools, guidance and support needed for the teams to create actual prototypes with the potential to change the way we relate to or consume milk and dairy products.
This is a fantastic opportunity to share your ideas and expertise AND try out your skills in a unique environment.
Prizes will be awarded by a panel of judges, and successful prototypes will be put forward for future development with support from the MAKEit partners.
