Tuesday 18th June 2019 12.00-4.00pm
The Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at Queen’s University is holding an information event for Subject Heads in schools on the main campus at Queen’s on Tuesday the 18 June from 12.00-4.00pm
The aim of this event is to provide teachers with information on degrees within the Faculty and the career pathways they may lead into. Lecturers in the Faculty are also interested to hear from teachers about what is being taught in schools for their subject areas and general trends in these areas. The event also offers a valuable opportunity for teachers in schools to build links with lecturers in Queen’s and vice versa.
A copy of the programme will be uploaded in the fourth coming weeks. The programme will consist of various sessions running alongside each other, and teachers may choose which sessions they would like to attend during each time slot. We would encourage teachers to attend a range of sessions during the afternoon (including some that are not directly related to their own subject areas). Teachers will also have the opportunity to engage informally with staff over lunch and on subject stands over a break.
The content for each subject session will consist of:
- A very brief overview of the courses in the subject area, general themes that are taught and career areas that students typically progress in to
- Two–way discussion between staff and teachers: feedback from teachers regarding their subjects will be welcome
The Faculty includes a wide range of courses, so this event should be of interest to teachers from a broad range of subject areas.
