Your offer of admission

Applications made via the Postgraduate Applications Portal

For Postgraduate Taught courses, we aim to provide a decision on your application within two weeks, if we have received copies of all the necessary supporting documents. Decisions on Postgraduate Research applications may take longer.

You will receive an email which will advise you to log in to the Portal to view the decision on your application. A letter will also be sent to the correspondence address provided in your application form.

If you have been made an offer, you should carefully read the guidance which will accompany your letter.

For Postgraduate Research applicants, additional notes on the requirements which the University places on the research student are supplied, along with a link to the University’s Code of Practice for Research Degree Programmes and the Study Regulations for Research Degree Programmes.

The only official letter confirming your offer of a place to undertake a postgraduate programme of study or research is that issued by the Admissions and Access Service.

Applications made directly to a School/Institute

You will be notified of the outcome of your application by the School/Institute directly. This will include instructions on how to reply to an offer and submit examination results, if applicable.

Types of Decision

The decision will normally be one of the following:

Unconditional Offer

If you meet all the admission requirements for your chosen degree programme, you will receive an unconditional offer letter which you may use as evidence that you have been accepted on to the programme.

Conditional offer

If your offer is conditional upon the completion of a degree and/or other academic or English Language qualification(s) and you have applied via the Postgraduate Applications Portal, you will be required to upload evidence to the ‘My Applications’ section of the Portal to confirm that you have satisfied the condition(s) of your offer. The facility will also allow you to decline or request reconsideration, if you have not met the condition(s) of your offer.  Please submit your results even if you have not exactly met the condition(s) of your offer, as it may be possible to exercise some flexibility if places are available.

Some offers may be conditional upon being awarded University administered funding and the Admissions and Access Service will be notified of the outcome of your funding application, if applicable.

Unsuccessful

Your decision letter will state the reason why your application has been unsuccessful.
