Postgraduate Study fees 2021-22 entry

Queen's offers lower tuition fees and living expenses than many other similarly well-regarded universities in the United Kingdom.

The fees you will pay will vary depending on the course you choose and the level of study.

The below figures are for 2021/22 entry.

  • POSTGRADUATE TAUGHT

    Postgraduate taught tuition fees for 2021-22 are as follows:

    In addition to the exceptions noted, different fees may be agreed for certain courses. Prospective students should refer to qub.ac.uk/courses for course costs and tuition fees.

    1 EU citizens in the EU Settlement Scheme, with settled or pre-settled status, are expected to be charged the NI or GB tuition fee based on where they are ordinarily resident, however this is provisional and subject to the publication of the Northern Ireland Assembly Student Fees Regulations. Students who are ROI nationals resident in GB are expected to be charged the GB fee, however this is provisional and subject to the publication of the Northern Ireland Assembly student fees Regulations.

    2 It is expected that EU students who are ROI nationals resident in ROI will be eligible for NI tuition fees, in line with the Common Travel Agreement arrangements. The tuition fee set out above is provisional and subject to the publication of the Northern Ireland Assembly student fees Regulations.

    EU Other students (excludes Republic of Ireland nationals living in GB, NI or ROI) are charged tuition fees in line with international fees.

  • POSTGRADUATE RESEARCH

    The standard full-time tuition fee for postgraduate research students from Northern Ireland1 , Republic of Ireland 2 and Great Britain 1 for 2021-22 is £4,500 ( 2021-2021 was £4,407).

    The fee will be calculated on a monthly basis, pro-rated for the academic year, based on the month a student commences study.

    Part-time 
    Part-time research students are assessed, as such, on the basis that they are studying less than 21 hours per week, over a period of more than 18 weeks, on the course of study.  The tuition fee is calculated at 50% of the full-time tuition fee.

    Thesis 
    A student who has completed research and is engaged in writing up a thesis will be charged a thesis only charge £315.

  • TUITION FEE PAYMENT OPTIONS

    A number of options are available to pay tuition fees.

  • OTHER COSTS

    For some courses, students are required to purchase instruments, equipment or attend field courses, the cost of which is additional to tuition fees. Information on additional course costs is available at https://www.qub.ac.uk/courses/ 

  • INTERNATIONAL and EU POSTGRADUATE TUITION FEES

    The payment of deposits for one year postgraduate taught courses is mandatory for international students. Details will be communicated by the Admissions and Access Service.

    If the student’s visa application is successful, but the student chooses not to accept his/her place at the University, the deposit will not be refunded.

    Tuition fees quoted are for study in the academic year 2021-22 only. Tuition fees are subject to annual inflationary increases. Information on how tuition fees are calculated is available at qub.ac.uk/TuitionFees
