My advice to you

Green spaces galore

"Belfast is quite good for green spaces - we’ve got Botanic Gardens, Ormeau Park or City Hall which is right behind me. It’s nice to have somewhere you can go to chill out and take a break from academia."

Will Hancock, Carmarthen, Wales

Making Friends

I didn't actually talk to anyone til I moved in on Freshers’ but everyone’s in the same boat. Everyone's just as eager to make friends and they're all super welcoming. "

Don't be scared!

"Because I came through clearing I was quite worried about missing the boat when it came to friends and whether I'd missed all the group chats on Facebook and stuff like that. But as soon as I moved into Elms and I got into my room I instantly started making friends."

Jacob Robinson, Newcastle

What surprised me about Queen’s

"One of the main things that surprised me about Queen’s is that you're treated like a person, not a number. I've got 300 people in some of my lectures and my lecturers will still always know me by name."

Will Hancock, Carmarthen, Wales

Freshers week

"During Freshers’ week, the Queen's SU puts on loads of events from nights out to meetups to pizza nights. Freshers’ can be a bit scary but you meet lots of different people; you're guaranteed to meet a few people who you're going to be friends with for the rest of your degree."

Emily Romeril, Bromley

Everyone knows each other

"Everyone is so friendly and everyone seems to know each other. You walk down the street and you almost always see someone you know"

Peter Moor, Huddersfield

Alishia O'Boyle, Isle of Man

It's great for Instagram!

"The benefit of coming to Queen’s is that it looks a little bit like Hogwarts, and it's good for your Instagram game."

Emily Romeril, Bromley

There's no need for taxis

"Getting around campus is super easy. I walk to and from lectures; there’s no point where you’ll have to catch a taxi to a lecture unless you oversleep horribly!"

Will Hancock, Carmarthen, Wales

Lots to do and plenty of time to do it

"Since I’ve got to Queen’s I’ve found quite a lot of stuff to do between lectures. You can go to the library or Botanic Park or even go to the gym for a light workout."

Jude McEvoy, London

Just 45 minutes from home

"The great thing about living in Belfast is although I’m quite far from home it’s only a 45-minute flight and I get the opportunity to be independent and have my own space."

Josh Popham, Brighton

It’s quicker to get to than a lot of UK universities

"Although it’s across the sea it’s surprisingly easy to get here; All I need to do is take a 50 minute flight. It’s actually quicker for me than it is for some of my friends who go to uni in other places in the UK."
